DECISIONES ESTRATÉGICAS DE MICROSOFT EN LOS ÚLTIMOS 10 AÑOS Y PERSPECTIVAS DE FUTURO

El pasado mes Microsoft anunció que las ventas de su sensor Kinect para la consola de videojuegos Xbox habían superado los 18 millones de unidades, a poco más de un año de su lanzamiento. La popularidad de este dispositivo ha ayudado recientemente a Microsoft Xbox a superar las ventas de la Wii de Nintendo y la PlayStation de Sony en el mercado de las videoconsolas estadounidense, convirtiéndose así en uno de los indiscutibles éxitos de la compañía en la electrónica de consumo.
En la década pasada, a pesar de que parecía que Microsoft se quedaba a la zaga a medida que nuevos competidores incursionaban en el campo de los teléfonos inteligentes y las tabletas, se mantenía como la compañía nº 1 a batir. A día de hoy, Microsoft está convirtiendo su “retraso” en ventaja, pues si hay que destacar dos de las claves del éxito de la empresa son, el escuchar permanentemente a los usuarios (clientes) y el saber convertir la experiencia de un error en un know-how valioso que no se debe desaprovechar.
Las perspectivas para este 2012 son prometedoras. Además de continuar el éxito iniciado hace años con el lanzamiento de la Xbox, Windows 8 hará su debut este otoño, un sistema que tendrá compatibilidad táctil (algo bueno para smartphones y tablets) y también funcionará en ultrabooks, lo que creará nuevas vías de crecimiento.
Para hablarnos de éstas y otras decisiones estratégicas de Microsoft en los últimos años y de sus perspectivas de futuro, contamos este mes con al presencia de Carlos de Torres, Director General de la División OEM de Microsoft en España.
Anteriormente, Carlos ocupó diversos puestos directivos en Telefónica, como Director de Retención y Fidelización del mercado residencial de Movistar en España y Director de Trade Marketing para Telefónica en España para todos los negocios (fijo y móvil) y segmentos (Residencial y Negocios).
