Ser cerrado o ser abierto, he ahí el dilema…

Tras el hecho de que Apple haya rechazado la aplicación de Google Voice para iPhone y se lo esté pensando todavía con la aplicación Spotify (por cierto muy usada por este servidor) podemos concluir que la tecnología sí que tiene fronteras, sólo que no físicas sino estratégicas.
En el primer caso, Apple se ve atada de manos y pies con los acuerdos que posee con las operadoras (como AT&T en EEUU y Telefónica en España), para las cuales Google Voice aparece como un intruso indeseable que está tratando de arañar su negocio, un ejemplo claro de cómo la exclusividad a veces puede ser factor a tomar en cuenta a la hora de decidir el rumbo de tu negocio.
Con Spotify el enemigo está dentro, ya que además de que ya hay aplicaciones de música dentro del App Store de Apple que funcionan como Spotify (como Last.fm, Yes.fm entre otras), Spotify presenta la opción de albergar canciones en el teléfono que podrán ser reproducidas posteriormente sin conexión, un peligro enorme para una de las discográfica más grande de nuestros tiempos: el iTunes.
Vemos entonces una estrategia que a simple vista parece interesante e inteligente por parte Apple que puede estar tratando de maximizar el beneficio por terminal vendido al cerrar las puertas a los posibles competidores, tanto los suyos como los de sus principales aliados. Pero a la vez está dando validez y resonancia a competidores como el HTC y Android, así como otras plataformas abiertas, que al ofrecer una mejor experiencia a nivel de usuario, ya que no están cerradas a nuevas aplicaciones, podrán ofrecer una mayor variedad y entrar directamente a ser protagonistas en este mercado.
Siempre termino dejando al tiempo juzgar lo que está bien y lo que está mal, y en este caso creo que voy a tener que ser constante con esta costumbre, porque en las estrategias de negocio pasa como en la guerra: todo vale y nada está escrito.

Estoy de acuerdo contigo en que hay que dejar al tiempo ir juzgando, pero intentando vaticinar un poco, me decanto por Android por varias razones:
No olvidemos que este tipo de terminales móviles están pensados como una nueva forma de comunicación basada en internet, y el futuro de estos móviles pasará siempre por el filtro de cualquier persona acostumbrada a una cultura de lo gratis, y sobre todo de la libertad de elección de absolutamente todo.
Qué pasará, o mejor dicho, ¿qué está pasando actualmente con el tema de las aplicaciones móviles y el control de éstas? Pues que la gente se está cansando de ciertos controles. No sólo hablo de geeks, que aunque no sean ni mucho menos la mayoría del público objetivo de estos móviles, sí que son unos potentísimos trendsetters de una u otra marca, y por ahora se decantan por Android, sobre todo por el tema de las no aprobaciones de aplicaciones por parte de Apple. Sino también hablo de la prensa especializada como Techcrunch http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/31/i-quit-the-iphone/ , o de los mismísimos programadores http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/30/fed-up-a-popular-mac-developer-quits-the-iphone/ .

Con todo esto no creo que el iPhone se venga abajo, al menos en el corto/medio plazo ya que tienen un público muy concreto (un tema que habría que analizar más detalladamente), pero sí que estoy convencido que están perdiendo un volumen de ventas muy importante por asuntos como este de las aplicaciones, y conforme vaya pasando el tiempo más perderán, ya que repito que no es el hecho que Spotify deba estar o no en las aplicaciones del iPhone, sino que es el usuario el que tiene que tener la libertad de decidir si utiliza Spotify, iTunes, o lastfm. Yo ya me he decantado por uno, y esta última razón fue la definitiva, una de ellas te permite mayor libertad de elección lo que para mí quiere decir que crecerá más rápido. Y una última cosa, ¿¿Apple vs Htc, Samsung, Dell, Acer, LG..y los que vengan ??
